Chavez, James

CHAVEZ, James "Jim," 85, of Riverview, Fla., died Thursday March 15, 2007, of natural causes. He had a love for the gulf, served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was an avid fisherman with a heart of gold. He leaves behind a daughter, Rebecca Lemieux; three grandchildren, Bryant Lemieux, Kenneth Lemieux and Michelle Latham; two brothers, Rudolph Chavez and George Chavez; and many other family members who loved him deeply. Jim will always have a special place in our hearts and will be remembered till we meet again in the after life. A memorial service will take place for him 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in the chapel of Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, Riverview, Fla. Blanchard, William
BLANCHARD, William "Bill" C., 71, of Lithia, passed away May 20, 2007, leaving behind his wife of 38 years, Rosalie; four daughters; four sons; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. William lived in Lithia, Fla., until retirement from Agrico Chemicals. William was much loved and will be greatly missed. Burgess, Cullen
BURGESS, Cullen R., 93, of Valrico and recently Hawthorne Village, passed away May 19, 2007. He was a devoted member of Presbyterian Church of Seffner. Cullen was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Gertrude Stevenson Burgess; his son-in-law, Charles H. Livingston; and his parents, Reese Burgess and Lizzie Burgess. He is survived by his daughter, Vonda Burgess Livingston; granddaughter, Shayla Livingston Hall; great- grandson, Cameron Bryce Hall; brother-in-law, Wilmon Stevenson; sister-in-law, Audrey Stevenson; brother-in-law, Don Uzzle; and many nieces and nephews. Cullen was born in Petrois, Ala. He moved to Tarpon Springs, Fla., as a child. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School, where he played football, basketball and tennis. Cullen was a supervisor for Cone Brothers Construction Co., where he built runways at MacDill Air Force Base and emergency landing strips in the Everglades during World War II. He later retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture after 30 years of service. On Friday, June 22, the family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home in Brandon, (813) 689-8121. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at East Elfers Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks for the kindness shown by the staff of Hawthorne Assisted Living Facility, LifePath Hospice and all the wonderful people who visited him during his declining days.

Delgado, Marc
DELGADO, Marc Andrew, U.S. Army specialist, 21, of Lithia, stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash., went home to be with the Lord, while proudly serving his country in Baghdad, Iraq, November 24, 2005. He was 2003 graduate of Durant High School and took much pride in his experience on the football team when they were District 5A champions. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, and a loving son, brother, grandson and friend. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Delgado, and Robert Martin; father, Ronald W. Delgado, and wife, Stephanie; brothers, Eric W. Delgado, MM2 (SS), U.S. Navy, Bryce Delgado and Matthew Delgado; maternal grandmother (Omi), Inge Kilbourne; best friend, John T. "JT" Coggins; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Providence Baptist Church, 5416 Providence Road. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Stowers Brandon Chapel, 401 W. Brandon Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions ma y be made in Marc's honor to the football program at Durant High School, (813) 757-9075, or Newsome High School, (813) 740-4600. Sayre, Russell E.
SAYRE, Russell E., 84, who was born May 1, 1923, died October 11, 2007. A resident of Nokomis, Fla., since 1998, he was formerly of Tampa. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, 7454 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Fla. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Ann; daughters, Cheryl L. Sayre of Venice, Fla., and Debbie Herd of Valley View, Texas; brothers, Hurshel, William and Robert, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Marie Steel of Columbus and Joan Young of Coshocton, Ohio; and one grandchild, Taylor Herd of Valley View. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, Russell received a Purple Heart, having served in the Pacific Rim as a sergeant. He also taught auto mechanics school at Tampa Bay Vocational and Erwin Adult School, and was a pilot for Tampa Aviation Supply Corp.
